With 45 countries competing in 40 different sports it´s no wonder that the eyes of millions are currently turning towards the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. From fencing to skateboarding, canoeing to jujitsu, the games are hosting 465 events between the 18th of August and the 2nd of September 2018, bringing together some of the world´s best athletes.
Taking center stage at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Center in Jakarta are four world-class pools installed by Fluidra for the aquatics competitions. Providing athletes with the most advanced swimming and diving facilities, the pools allow the world class-competitors to showcase their athletic abilities in the hope of achieving medal glory.
In total, Fluidra has provided the games with four pools to hold the swimming, artistic swimming, water polo and diving competitions as well as a warm-up pool for the athletes. Three of these swimming pools have been built with galvanized SkyPool metal panels to provide the optimum conditions for the different competitions.
Over 85 competitors from 14 nations are scheduled to participate in the diving competition while 10 countries as far apart as Saudi Arabia and Japan will be competing in the water polo competition. Meanwhile, 96 artistic swimmers from 11 nations are scheduled to participate- a record for the games.
With so many athletes competing across different disciplines it is essential they have the best possible facilities to compete in. Fluidra has used various technological solutions for the hydraulic, filtration and disinfection systems to ensure the pools are always clean and ready for competition.
Xavier Pavon, the General Manager of Fluidra Asia, states that
