INDESCAT, the Catalan sports industry cluster, has awarded Fluidra a prize in the second edition of the Business and Sports Awards. These awards pay tribute to the three most prominent projects in the sports sector in the areas of innovation, internationalisation and partnership.
The Salut project (The Health Project) , an initiative led by our company and that has been supported by the Hospital Clinic teaching hospital in Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Atlètic-Barceloneta Swimming Club in Barcelona, has been recognised by the cluster as the best entry in the partnership category. Broadly speaking, this research project compared the effects (on the air, the water and the users) of two water treatment systems, one of which has just been created, in public swimming pools.
The judging panel liked the fact that the project was a collaboration between a company, a health club, a university, a hospital, as well as the research aspect of the project, which will lead to the development of better equipped and healthier sports facilities.
The judging panel was made up of two representatives from INDESCAT, a representative from the General Secretariat of Sports, a representative from the Ministry of Enterprise and Employment-ACCIÓ, and two representatives from the world of sports academia, the Blanquerna Foundation (Ramon Llull University) and the Barcelona School of Management (Pompeu Fabra University).
The ceremony was held at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum on the 26 November. During the event, the Secretary General of Sports for the Government of Catalonia, Ivan Tibau, highlighted “the fantastic potential of the Catalan sports industry, a true pioneer when it comes to launching new innovative projects that involve outstanding levels of teamwork and collaboration”.
Our history has always been closely linked to the world of sport. This is why we want to highlight that these awards reinforce our commitment to innovation in the public pools and water treatment sectors.
In the second edition of the Business and Sports Awards, INDESCAT also named Bioiberica and the Johan Cruyff Institute as the best initiatives in the areas of innovation and internationalisation respectively.
