Sometimes reports, meetings, and tight deadlines can overwhelm us. Luckily, our workmates are there to give a helping hand. When work gets harder and challenges more demanding, workmates can make a real difference and give us the support we need.
Seven years ago, the United Nations designated the 30th of July as the International Day of Friendship and invited all member countries to join in with the celebrations with the aim of “making a contribution to promote dialog, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation”:
Through friendship — by accumulating bonds of camaraderie and developing strong ties of trust — we can contribute to the fundamental shifts that are urgently needed to achieve lasting stability, weave a safety net that will protect us all, and generate passion for a better world where all are united for the greater good. (United Nations)
By celebrating this day, the UN not only seeks to recognize the feeling of friendship between people, but also uses this day to underline the importance of respect between people, groups and communities, as well as to ensure their inclusion, safeguard their equality and prevent their rejection.
The UN picked this date thanks to the World Friendship Crusade, a Paraguayan civil organization founded in 1958 that fostered a culture of peace by championing friendship.
Friendship is based on respect, cooperation and trust, values that we encourage at Fluidra. A positive atmosphere in the workplace is essential for reaching our potential and making our results shine.
