Society advances. It doesn’t stop. Changes occur continuously and without waiting for us to adapt to the new times. The things we believe in can fall apart before our eyes. This uncertainty leads to situations of stress and stops us from fully enjoying our lives. But don’t worry – there is a solution.
For some years now, the voices claiming that stress is the greatest epidemic Western society will face in the 21st century have been gaining ground. Continuous exposure to stress can endanger our health and trigger other diseases or behaviors harmful to our body.
“Stress is the set of physiological reactions that prepare the body for action” (WHO, 2007).
That’s why, last 19 April, world renowned “happiness coach” Dr Rao, gave a chat to our Fluidra colleagues in Sabadell, analyzing different sources of stress and advising that realizing control is an illusion can be a stress-buster.
“After talking with hundreds of people, everyone admits they are under more stress now than any other time in their life. Yes, stress levels are rising and they’re doing so right around the world” (Dr Rao)
Dr Srikumar Rao is the founder of the Rao Institute, which offers different services targeted at helping people find deeper meaning and engagement in their work. To that end he designed the Creativity and Personal Mastery (CPM) course and speaks on it at major events and in customized corporate workshops. His goal is to boost the creativity and happiness of his students.
Living Fluidra was able to talk to Dr Rao, who provided a number of tips on reducing stress in our day-to- day life and finding happiness in our work.
