The Trailwalker challenge was held in Girona in April. This is a charity event in which teams of four cover 100 km to raise money for charity projects run by Oxfam in Spain. This year, a group of workers from Trace Logistics took part in the race and we are proud to say that the whole of the company got involved in the cause.
The funds raised for every registration for the Trailwalker challenge (each team pledges to raise 1,500 euros) and other donations go to 500 different charities. For example, with the money raised this year work will be done so that thousands of people living in poverty will have access to drinking water who must normally walk miles every day to fetch this basic resource.
In order to raise the amount pledged by signing up, the employees from Trace spent months organising various fundraisers, such as the charity breakfasts that took place every Friday or the raffles for Christmas hampers, cakes and other homemade bakes. The company also made a big donation.
Therefore, thanks to the involvement and generosity of all of the staff, on 16 April our colleagues Sergi de Lara, Aritz Bizkarra, Gerard Gómez and Núria Duran (plus Elena Moreno and Montse Villodres as the backup team) went to Girona to cover the 100-km race. It should also be highlighted that the members of this team of “Tracewalkers” belong to different departments and had never gone out walking together (until they started training, of course).
“The whole thing started as an idea, a dream. About 10 months ago, they came into my office to tell me about the project and find out if we would help them”, recalls Montse Mora, head of Human Resources at Trace Logistics. “Walking 100 km for the whole day – and night – was a tough challenge, but this did not put us off and the company didn’t think twice about giving its support”, she added.
The Tracewalkers thought that this had been an extraordinary experience and brought them closer together than the project itself. It was a tough experience but, to quote their own words, “we got over the most difficult moments through teamwork” and they crossed the finish line “absolutely happy”.
Tracewalkers, Living Fluidra would like to express the pride that Trace Logistics and all of the other companies in the group feel for your achievement. You have demonstrated that dreams and effort can go a long way and, most important of all, help those who most need it. Congratulations!
